    Re: Concerning Vne

"...140 straight down and a push to inverted at 170 level inverted...

Sounds like bloodshot eyeballs and possible subdural hematoma to me. LOL

Interesting about the leading edges. I'm going to keep a closer eye on my wing patches.

      Re: Concerning Vne

Then there was the incident after we rebuilt her at the Lock Haven factory . We did a different method on the lead edge attach ment . THEN I was doing an English "bunt" at an airshow practice site. pushed at 140 and just got level inverted when the main seat belt relaxed , the secondary caught me after I moved about 3-4 inches. Direct hit with top of skull into the "X" member in top of the cabin.

Saw "stars" actually kind of faded out for a while , folks on ground said I rolled to upright on a 45 and was climbing very shallow for a 1/2 mile . That was when I recovered inside the ship and came around to land. I put a "crotch" strap back in that had been removed at the factory.... just found a CD with an Airshow performance . May try to post to U-Tube...

The bunt starts at top of loop up right at about 80 mph then you are going about 140 at the bottom as you level out inverted. Hmmmm maybe those concussions Have made me forgetful

I would like to see that. If you get it on Utube, let us know here. Considering the proximity of the overhead crossbar I would think a helmet might be in order for serious aerobatics.

Yes i highly recommend the helmet , felt it was too heavy at the time. Did use Nomex flight suit and gloves. I put a thick pad on the cross tubes . Many other chages came out of that incident.

            Re: Concerning Vne

When I was in the Navy we used a "Cranial" on the flight deck that consisted of a few segments of helmet material held together by a canvas skull cap with head phones. It was MUCH less bulky and heavy than a helmet. but provided great head protection. I would wear mine when flying except I have so much hair to protect my head and my skull is so thick, I doubt I need it. ;-)

I need a better SEAT cushion! Don't want to injure the brain.

The FAA wanted me to dive the airplane to 200 mph, for structural testing of a fiberglass cowling. never made it there only got to 196. That was straight down full power. Tim

Straight down, full power! Now that would be a ride.
