      It looks like Howard is right, it's a Taylorcraft 'appendix' and not needed.Thank you all, I'm just going to forget about then.

        I am going into hiding , I never thought about it ..... will check drawings . It sure is a new one on me.
        ( different subject) thanks Ryan & Tim ; I found my scope ; YES it is in backwards. MY Ryan & I are going to MAPS & CAK tomorrow then back into the shop on Thurs....

          Did not some of the early A&B models have a fuel tank that was mounted back there i think i read something about this in Chet Peaks book could be for a strap to hold that they offered a 6 gl tank and a hand pump in 1940 as an extra equipment

            Chuck, the tank mounted with clamps around the fuselage tubing, and not to those tabs.
