Re: N95598: Fuel Tank Surprising Discovery

$4.48 is not that far from some 100LL around here. I can still get 87 octane ethanol free though, for now...

Just checked today. We are paying $4.00 a gallon in Suffolk VA for regular unleaded with no alcohol.

With the current price hike from a day or two ago from $3.35 to $3.55/gal., current ethanol-free mogas would be $3.65. There is a ten cent per gallon 'premium' on ethanol-free mogas here.

Re: N95598: Fuel Tank Surprising Discovery

In 1981 I bought a 1934 Chevrolet. The car had been stored since 1939 apparently with gas left in the tank. We had checked the tank but did not pull it so a better inspection could be done. After driving for a few weeks the engine quit and the fuel pump had little brown pieces of varnish in it. Pulled the tank and found a lot more varnish. This stuff was so hard we took the tank to a radiator shop for cleaning before we got rid of it all. Thanks for the heads up to check more carefully after the plane has set for a while.

I feel lucky in having it available around here. I do see it popping up around the country . I have a Marathon person here at airport who is checkin into its usage around the country... So far it is very clean . runs well in all our " equipment "
