    Re: Paint Scheme

Tony this is what I have been looking for, for a couple of years. How did you color the plane? Did you use a drafting/drawing program or did you print the pic, color it in with pencil and then scan it back in?

That looks like how I want to interpret the instructions. Maintain the space between the letters and ignore the width requirement of an entire letter or number if it is an "I" or a "1" (where it doesn't make sense anyway). It looks to me like that is the way every antique plane I have pictures of did it.

I used Photoshop, basically drawing all of the lines in on a separate "layer" from the color. Doing it this way allows me to change the colors to whatever I'd like without having to redraw the whole thing. If you think of each layer as a sheet of transparency plastic, just imagine a stack of them with the highlights/glare on the top sheet, the sheet with shadows next down, the black lines next, then lastly the sheet with the color. If you have a paint scheme in mind you want to see, just let me know. I'd be happy to draw it up for you.
It'd actually help me out as well, as I'm working on a larger drawing which will have a number of Tcarts parked at an airport, and I'd prefer to use real N-Numbers and paint if it's possible.

Hank, Numbers should have a spacing of 1/6th the height of the number. The width of the stroke should be 1/6th the height of the number. Number width should be 2/3rd the height of the number except for the number 1, and letters M and W. M and W width should equal height, and the 1 should be a narrower width 1/6th the height if a block style.
