This just can't be right. Josh and I were working on a bunch of projects together and we just talked a couple of days ago. I just don't know what to say right now. He was a great pilot and as safe as they come. This is going to be a really hard one to deal with.

Most sobering news indeed. Josh was a super nice guy and fine pilot.
The NTSB report will be interesting reading when it comes out. I don't think Josh's plane was equipped with shoulder harnesses and that could prove to be a factor.

              Re: Faa preliminary accident report

Josh and I were planning to get together when my 41 was flying. I was hoping he and Laura could come up to Virginia Beach before that. There were so many of his favorite planes at the flying museum here. Two of his favorites were the DH Mosquito and the BF-109, both of which were scheduled to be delivered here this year. A late summer meeting for some time at the beach (to keep Debbie and Laura happy) and a day or so at the VB airport playing with the War Birds for us was the plan.
We never even got to meet Laura. I feel like I have lost a family member.
              God be with you Laura.

I just happened upon this, I am devastated. We had many e-mail conversations. He was such a talented guy, I just cannot believe it.
                Cheers,

                      Re: Faa preliminary accident report

I contacted his EAA chapter this morning. They should be sending me funeral information and anything we can do for Laura. I had hoped I would wake up this morning and it would have just been a bad dream. I will pass on any information I get here.
I was going to go out early this morning to work on the 41, but I just can't get into it today.

This is so sobering , its a terible loss, Over the years I have known so many acquaintances who have been involed in a fatal aircraft accident, I pray for his family, just Monday a J 3 Cub went down in lake Winnebago with the loss of life of a young women and a guy, not many details but the aircraft was registared in Delaware, its a lesson for me and all of us life is so precious. Reguards to all of you who knew him.

                          Re: Faa preliminary accident report

I just got the following message from the president of EAA 1423 in N.C. where Josh was an officer.

                          Mr. Jarrett,

We are all still in shock. We believe that Josh's crash is medical related. Below you will find the e-mail I sent out to our group about the memorial service. Our airfield South Oaks Aerodrome NC47 is only a few miles from the service. If anyone wants to fly in I would be honored to pick you up and get you to and from the service. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me. My cell phone number is 252-559-0383.
Thank you for getting the word out to the Taylorcraft community. I hope we can meet in the future.

Dear EAA 1423 Members & Aviation Friends,

There will be a memorial service for Josh Brehm this Sunday, July 31, at 3:PM, at the home of Charles & Judy Lewis, located at 5245 County Home Rd., Winterville, N.C. The service will be in Charles' hangar at this address. If you have questions or need directions please feel free to contact me by e-mail or by calling 252-559-0383. Re: Faa preliminary accident report

Begging Jim Hartley's forgiveness, he was the thread starter I'll change the thread title.

I never met Josh in person, but we had many on-line and off-line chats. I also know that he became a positive part of the Taylorcraft Foundation and forum...our Taylorcraft community, if you like. I wish we had met. Amongst many, I have benefited from his ingenuity and generosity. His influence extends beyond his home town, state and country.

Sometimes it's the smallest things that people do in their lives that make people laugh. Josh did many of those, and an example that I'm sure many here will remember is when we had to fix our wheelbarrow axles.

Bless you, Josh; safe flight. You will be remembered here, in this Taylorcraft community that you are part of, and helped form.

                              Rob
