  • Looking to Buy L2-M

I currently own a Bonanza and I am looking at a L2-M Grasshopper as a second "fun" plane. Any thoughts as to this aircraft would be greatly appreciated?

    Thanks

Well, no one here will EVER say an L-2 is equal to a Bonanza. The L-2 is a WHOLE lot more fun for less money than a wing attach fitting inspection on a Beachcraft. Even long cross countries are more fun (just be prepaired for a load of low and slow flying and seeing parts of the countryside you never knew still existed). All in all I would suspect that unless you have an actual NEED for high speed, when the time to downsize to one plane comes it will be the L-2 you keep.

      L-2

I'm flying a DC-65, same as the early L-2's, and like it very much. larger cabin, adjustable seats, fly from the front, and 90+ cruise. Good luck on your search.

I, like Chet, have the civilian version of the L-2. Mine is a DL-65 with no greenhouse aft of the trailing edge of the wing. I believe the L-2 to be a great flying machine. Unlike the J-3, solo is from the front seat. Also, the back seat has more shoulder room than the J-3. The front seat on the L-2 and both front and back seats on the D model are adjustable forward and aft.

Are you specifically looking for the M model? Neither the A or B model have spoilers, but beware - many M model spoilers have been removed.

My son did his first solo in our D model last December. I purchased our D model to teach him in. Having flown the J-3, Champ and other two place tandem aircraft - I personally believe the D/L-2 can’t be beat!
