Re: New Syle Engine Baffles
Hello Eric,
Nice looking engine installation and especially the baffles. You have chosen good people to help you with the mods.
Just a warning about using slang or nicknames on the forum. Many of the older owners get their panties in a twist when we use a name like "tcart" or "tcrate". Cannot tolerate the use. Ask me how I know...LOL.

Re: New Syle Engine Baffles
On the Tcart name; I always thought of it as a familiar term of endearment. Guess it depends on how you look at it. I was surprised the first time I heard someone get incensed over the use of the term.
On a similar note, the good ole local boys of my dad's era (jealous non-pilots) often referred to the light aircraft of the period as Maytag Specials, as the horizontally-opposed engines resembled the gas engines on the very old Maytag washing machines. Now that is what you call derogatory. Chuckle.

Re: New Syle Engine Baffles
Nice looking engine installation. I like the oil filter and oil cooler installation. Where will your cooling air inlet be located? I see you have no exhaust installed yet. Are you going to go with a split exhaust? This should be a cool cucumber with all these items added up. The oil cooler will make a huge difference, perhaps too good in cold weather. I would love to see more photos and hear more about your progress. Is this a C85-12F, C90-12F, or O-200-A?.Terry Bowden, formerly TF # 351

Re: New Syle Engine Baffles
Terry,
We are pulling a 3'' duct off the back of the rear baffle, the oil cooler and filter is from Steve's Aircraft. I also have an 8 point Electronic International engine monitor (CHT/EGT) so a hot cylinder will show before there is a problem. You are right about having to much oil cooler for most if the flying here in Alaska, I will restrict the airflow to maintain adaquate oil temperature. I am on floats in the summer so the engine does get worked. It is a C90-12 flanged with the 6qt oil tank, and 150 exhaust. I started it yesterday for the first time and she didn't make 2 revoultions before firing up and running like she ran yesterday. I saw a static rpm of 2100 with a 76ak-2-42, i am going to put a 39 pitch on and see how she does with that.

I am going to keep it, pitch one for my 29'' bushwheels and the other for the floats.
There was one the otherday in fairbanks craigslist for $500 which was a great price if it is servicable.
