  • Tailwheel bolt bracket

I'm in the process of cutting out some tubes in the rear of the fuse that have corrosion to replace them. The bracket for the bolt attachment of the tailwheel has a crack so it has to go as well. Although I'm wondering if what I have is correct for a pre-war fuse. I've seen another fuse which has a second bolt plate towards the top of the longeron tube with a sleeve welded between them for the bolt. Also I have those big gussets and wonder if that is correct. I'm trying to figure out what it should look like when I'm done to make it like original. See my photos below.

Your setup is a repair and is not like the originals. I'll see if I can dig up a photo of the correct arrangement back there. That is alot of corrosion! Looks like some new tubing is in order.

Here is what is is supposed to look like. Ignore the additional tailbrace wire lugs- this was from a clipwing I built.

Call engine baffles.com, and ask to speak with Lee, he may have what you need. The owner used to sell struts before he sold that part of the company to Airframes INC. Tim
