What floats are approved for the 1951 Model 19 Taylorcraft? I believe I've heard of everything from 1320s, 1400s to PK 1800s?

Look in the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS) on the FAA site. It will say.

Already did -- TC 1A9 rev 19 makes no mention of floats.

Model 19 never tested on floats..... F-19 was ; I am not a float expert. i am SES in a BC12 D-85 on 1320's . I would sure go bigger if possible. 1400's & 1500's of course are good. jump in here float guys.....

A Model 19 is identical to a BC12D modified using Gilberti/Harer STC so you ,may be able to submit a 337 with the 696 Type Certificate as reference....the BC12D-4-85 is also identical except the gross weight is 1351 on floats. Baumann has the STC for all Taylorcraft up to the F22 for the BF1500 floats....but as you probably know...they are discontinuing production. There is a used set of 1500's on Baumann website for sale though.

Does anyone know of a Model 19 on floats? There must be one around somewhere.

Really? I just talked to them about a set of new 1500's and they told me they would only need a few weeks to build a set and quoted an installed price.

I have a 46 Model 19 on the Baumans, they are great along with the price.
                    The 1320's are also approved.

Here is the e-mail from Joe I received on the 24th

To all of my customers, friends and colleagues in the aircraft float industry,

Due to the unfortunate economic conditions we have all faced in the past couple of years, our current owner of Baumann Floats LLC has decided to discontinue production of all of our float models. The equipment, design data, STC’s and inventory will be relocated over to Oshkosh, WI and placed with Basler Turbo Conversions LLC. I personally as well as the rest of my crew will not be moving over to Oshkosh with the company and we will no longer be employed by Baumann Floats LLC. Randy Myers, head of production at Basler Turbo Conversions will be the new interim contact person for any parts orders from April, 1, 2011 on. His telephone contact information is as follows, 920-236-7820 and his e-mail address is [email protected]. I realize that many of you have invested significant amounts of hard earned money into your airplanes by purchasing and equipping your planes with floats from Baumann Floats LLC. It is my sincere hope that there will be continued customer support addressed in a timely fashion for parts and products manufactured by Baumann Floats LLC.

I would like to thank you personally for all of your support and commitment you have given me and Baumann Floats over the past years. Through your patronage we have been able to bring a great aircraft float design to the market and we could not have done it with out your commitment and enthusiasm. I have been extremely fortunate to meet the majority of my customers face to face and have been able to experience some great seaplane flying adventures along the way. I have been truly blessed with the opportunity of providing Baumann Floats to the aviation community and it has been my pleasure to serve you over the past 10 years as General Manager of Baumann Floats LLC.

Thanks again and I hope to see you soon for another flying adventure.

                      Sincerely,

                      Joe Birkemeyer

Unfortunate that the makers of the best floats on the market today have to go out of business.
