  • Blank Drawings for Paint Scheme Layout

Is anyone aware of any outline drawings of Taylorcraft BC-12Ds that could be used to sketch or lay-out out various paint schemes? I am getting closer to flying my '46 ... she know has cover on the fuselage and one wing. It's time to start finalizing my paint layout.

I just made a copy of the three view drawings from Chet Peek's The Taylorcraft Story, page 180. It worked great.

Now how about a simple program that would allow us to draw our design and fill color. Larry

PS: Computer program I mean so we can mess around with various schemes.

What ever happened to crayons and colored pencils?

                Steve and Ryan,

Thanks for the ideas. I have Chet's book, but hadn't looked at it in a while. I will take a look this evening. I will probably trace the outline / profile I need and then use the colored pencils and crayon approach that Mark suggested.

if you look at the posted pictures of my 46 BC12D you will see the EXACT layout of the Deluxe paint job for that year. I have the original sales brochure, and its identical. Hope this helps. You should be able to transpose it easily. JC

If you can pick up one of the little Comet 13" rubber models they are great for doing the color scheme on. Mine is hanging from the ceiling and has provided many moments of daydreaming about the day the full size one would be flying.
Nothing looks quite like a 3 dimensional color layout.

Plus the model was fun to build on a couple of cold evenings.

Jim, for some reason I can't open up the "Pictures and Albums" link. When I try it says:

photos Jim was referring to. We used that scheme as well with an addition of a tail stripe. Careful with those crayons, if you put them in you mouth we will have to take them off of you. Have fun!
