  • O-200 Crankshaft

I had a recent engine failure due to a spun bearing on the #1 rod journal. Was able to land with no damage to the plane but the engine (crank) was toast. Now I'm going to rebuild the C-85 with the O-200 crank update. I am looking for a servicable O-200 crank. Must be within limits for regrind and no prop strike. Thought I would try here before I spring for a new crank.

    Thanks

Don's Dream Machine, they have the STC and the crank. If you are looking to save some money, call Aircraft Accessories, or Rick Romans for a used one. Tim

Tom, buy a new 0-200 crankshaft. They are cheap (relatively)...that's why the whole STC came into being.

For my C-85 stroker, I purchased a used O-200 crank with a promise that it was good....we had to ship it to the States for a regrind, and it ended up the same price as a new one.

But the C-85 mod is the way to go...my engine dyno'd at 93hp at 100rpm below redline, so we reckon 98hp at redline.

        Tom,
Aircraft Specialties has the STC and will sell you the whole rotating assembly, crank, rods and bearings. Or if you want to do it on your own they will sell you the STC.
