Hi stinsonv77, welcome to the forum.

You might try Lloyd Fries (I think he's a CFI). He's in Visalia. Try sending him a Private Message, or perhaps he'll post something on this thread.

I must admit that Avemco are being a little draconian if they are insisting on a "type-rated" CFI, but ho-hum.

Insurnace companies have some crazy rules. A club I belong to was purchasing a motor glider. The insurance company wanted a CFGI check out by an instructor that had an endorsement for the make and model. Seeing that there less than 15 of these ever imported to the USA, how do you find that guy?

Good to try Lloyd. We are a little far away, but in a real pinch Dale Combs is a CFII here in Los Banos and was instructing a guy for his private a while back in a BC12. If you need to, PM me and I will get you his phone number.

We live in Phoenix, AZ. (not close but not real far) My dad is CFII. He'd probably go with you around the patch a few times in our Tcraft and sign you off.

Who needs insurance? For what it would cost me I could rebuild my airplane every 5 years. Tim

I have liability only to protect myself or my spouse from the owners of property I might destroy. It would take about 57 years of premiums to add up to the value of my Taylorcraft. ($18,000)

I have nation air 438 a year the hull would have been 3000 thats crazy. even if you fold it up the parts are worth more than the assembled plane. and big tires are insurrence better enjoyed

The last quote I had was 2700 per year because I fly in Alaska. Tim
