Taylorcraft Serial number 720

My friend says the number stamped on the door hinge is 720.

What year would that make it? From photos, it has the very curved instrument panel coaming of 1939 (or earlier) and a flipper trim.

My '39 that you're familiar with Rob is SN 1247, delivered to Livingston Airways in Waterloo, IA on May 6th. The same paperwork I have says that SN 612 was a model A (NC22600), so #720 may be an earlier model. Maybe a '38?

OK, he's found the other digit...it's 2720.

How would I find an N number that originally went with that?

Edit: found it...N29869. The FAA has a search page allowing a search by C/No.

29876 was a late April or early May BF12-65, but with the curved instrument panel it would have been a BC, BL, or BF. My BL was 29815, and it came out as a BL-55. Tom

Rob and others: My 1940 BC65, NC29624, Ser# 2466, built on 12/10/40, if that helps any.

Mine serial # is 2540 and built in early 41. I can get the build date if interested but do not remember it right now. Larry

My understanding is that the "B" models started at s/n 1100. So perhaps the 720 could be an "A" model?

My BF was born on Nov 30th, 1938....SN#1095
