Fuselage stringer dimensions

Does anyone have the cross-section dimensions of the wooden T stringers and/or metal W-section stringers?

1/4" across the bottom, with a height of 7/8" for the bottom section, 1.125 total height, .5 wide across the top.

I made mine 5/16" across the bottom and they were too stiff, so keep it to the 1/4".

When you make them, make them a rectangle that is 1/2" x 1.125". Router the top with a quarter round bit for a nice radius, and then use a table saw to cut 1/8" from each side of the bottom. I would then varnish them. I made them from verticle grain clear doug fir with 13-15 grains per inch. It was 256.00 for two 2x6's 14' long from a specialty wood supplier. that was enough wood to make all of the wood for the entire aircraft.

Wow, thanks, Tim. A very comprehensive reply.

A chap I know is making a model (I assume 1/4 scale) and he is interested in the dimensions of the fabric, so as to get an accurate shape of the fuselage.

Hi Rob,

Wooden: appears to be clear spruce?
Measured two areas, 1st was the stringer that starts behind the rear door post about approx 9" up from bottom of door (just guessing on the 9")
