  • Mag P-Lead wires

Been a lot of talk lately about the tail wires and tail wheel springs. Just to let you all know, I DO look at the other end of the plane once in a while and I noticed my P-leads were in REALLY ratty shape. When I started really messing with them I noticed the insulation would crack and split when you bend the wire. NOT GOOD!! That and it looks like it has been on there since 1941 and isn't even shielded.

Anybody know where you can buy ~5' of nice shielded P-lead? Tried the online WagAero and Aircraft Spruce catalogs and didn't find it. I really don't want to buy a whole ROLL of the stuff and right now I am looking for the spec so I at least know what I am looking for.

Any Magnito/switch/wire experts out there? Anybody know what the part number or wire Spec is?

You can buy shielded 18 ga wire by the foot from spruce. It's not listed under "P-lead" though...

    PN 11-14418

Or, buy braided shield and make your own...

If you run slick mags, dont put inline filters on them per thier instructions. Tim

            Hank,
The last shielded wire I needed, I purchased from an aircraft radio shop.

EAA has a video on how to build a new p-lead. http://link.brightcove.com/services/...id=50864529001
I think that this is the link.

COOL! Just what I needed. Now all I need to do is get the materials, put it together, get it checked and put it on. All the fun parts.
