Re: O-145-B2 Timing
Hi Larry, It's been over a year since I swapped the Lyc. out to Iowa... But I seem to remember that the timing *BTDC is stamped on the engine data plate. The # 20* for the B-2 Sticks in my mind. I'll dig up a copy of my old lyc manual and check for sure. A lot of the Lyc's were upgraded as time went by 50hp-55hp-65hp...the timing changed as well. Sometimes the new info was not stamped into the plate. Makes a big difference in the power to have the right timing.....I found out...;-)20442

Re: O-145-B2 Timing
Found the Lycoming "Handbook of Instructions with Parts Catalog" "Model O-145 and GO-145 Aviation Engines"
Dated JAN. 1947..............
The specs for the O-145-B2 say:"Spark Occurs--Degrees B.T.C. 20*"
This is old info, it is possible that things have changed in a mere 63 years.
Info could be in the front of the engine logbook too???

The Type Certificate is the definitive source for this kind of information, and, the answer is still 20* for the -B2.

Re: O-145-B2 Timing
too much time on my hands....
The -B2 engine is eligible with 25* BTC timing if you are using 80 octane fuel. It was certified for 73 octane at 20* timing. (See Note 5 in the TC)
