  • Bungy Chord and Tool Where Do I Get Them

I have a set that came with the plane , they are old but look unused . How
can you tell if they are still good ?

Also where do I ge t the cords if required and the tool to install. Actually, if
I had a drawing for the tool I would just make it. If someone has a drawing
please let me know so I could obtain a copy.

You can order the shock cords from aircraft spruce. They stock them in the Canadian store here in Brantford, so you can just call them in Brantford instead of the 800 number. They ship Canada Post. Probably about $60.00 for the set of four and no customs hassles. Considering the effort of changing them, I wouldn't bother with old ones since rubber does degrade over time. As for the tool, there are pictures of it in the forum which you might use as a guide - just do a search.

David Rude sells a bungee tool. We bought one and have used it several times in past couple years. Takes us a whopping 15 minutes to swap bungees with his tool. I love it.

His username on here is "drude" I think.

Thanks, I will buy one from him. Easier and faster than doing it myself.
Besides, I am very busy and don't have the time.

Aircraft Spruce show Shock Cords as follows:

                9090 , 9044 , 06-00829HD , 1080

Which one do I need, there is no discription . Also in addition to the
this is there some kind of safety cable/stop in the event of failure of
                the bungee cords ?

Yes on the safety cable. What model airplane do you have? Tom

I ordered the 9010HDX. .. .it is for F19 and F21 etc and is the heavier weight version- with your bigger engine and mods you may want to consider it. They also have a cold weather version. I have an IO-320 on my clipwing and it will weigh around 875. For my BC12-D-85 I always used 9010 HD and put an old one on too- I know it is 3 per side but it really made it alot nicer.

I thought you got rid of the 320 and went back to the 0-200 ? Then again I
remember that from many years ago, maybe I'm thinking about someone else.

I'll go with the 9010HDX as you suggest as mine is on the heavier side, tho not sure exactly because I've only flown floats, never had the ship assembled
on wheels before. Is is two or three per side, I was told by others that I only
needed four. And what about the safety/stop, is that a cable or other material?

                      Thanks for the feedback

What he was saying is 2 new and 1 old per side. 2 per side is all you need. The safety cables should be made from 5/16" cable. I looked for an old one but didn't find it, so I don't have the length for you. Tom

Robert: This is what the cables look like (these are for sale...$40 US + shipping. Used, but no frays). They go between the two bungees.

                            5/16" or 3/16"?

I though that mine were 3/16", may be reall wrong though.
