  • B7000L,R brake shoes

Not from a Taylorcraft, probably, but can anyone identify from which aircraft / brake these brake shoes might be?

    Re: B7000L,R brake shoes

    Hey Rob,

Those look like Cleveland hydraulic brake shoes. They were used mostly on Tri-Pacers and some Aeroncas. I've attached the appropriate page from the Cleveland catalog showing the brake assembly.

I have a 1974 F19 that uses that style brake shoes. They are cleveland and are cable operated.

Yep, Cleveland wheel, formerly Van Sickel wheel.

Attached page from Aeronca Service manual shows Goodyear and Van Sickel wheels as options on the Aeronca 7AC.

          Re: B7000L,R brake shoes

          Hey Mark and KRW,

The shoes are from a Cleveland wheel/brake but they are not from a mechanical brake assembly. The part of the shoe that bears on either the cam (mechanical brake) or the hydraulic cylinder (hydraulic brake) is different for each application. The shoes are not interchangeable between mechanical and hydraulic assemblies.

            AhHa!
Good information Dan. I see the subtle difference between the hydraulic brake drawing posted by KRW and the mechanical brake drawing I posted.
            Thanks for the education.
