  • "Technical Resources"

The Technical Resources page on the Foundation website includes a lot of information for restorers, repairers and modifiers of our beloved aeroplanes.

Take a look. A lot of members have volunteered the information there, so a BIG thanks to them. If you have any technical data that can be added, email or PM me to get it uploaded.

Remember, Foundation membership is available to all. We all aught to have a moral obligation to preserve & support our type club; click here to find out more.

    Hi Rob,

Could you add me to that page as a source for bungee tools?

Often folks say that they searced a lot to find my info.

Rob I just got a light weight battery approved for installation on the firewall of a 172, do you think that we should post it as an example of installing a Burls Aircraft Battery box? Let me know. Tim

Might as well, Tim. It could be used as an example, after all.

I'll PM you my email address...the previous one you sent stuff to me is now defunct.

            Re: "Technical Resources"

I've recently put some updates to the "Technical Resources" section of the Foundation website.

There have been a whole host of 337 data added (with my thanks to Tim over the last year, who has added a large amount of data), as well as some scanned manuals.

We welcome additional technical data, including 337's or STC's you may have got approval for, or any other technical data, tools, etc.

PM or email me to get things added.

              Rob-
Who do I talk to about cleaning up the FAQ page on the Foundation Technical Resources?
--> Taylorcraft Foundation Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) (opens in new window)

It is almost painful to view with all the Microsoft Word html code (BAD!)

I can clean it up and reformat it and send it to some one to replace the existing page.

I have been laid off from my pro bono job as the Taylorcraft Factory webmaster (Thank God!), so I can spread some webmaster talent your way.

I also have a Taylorcraft Inspection checklist I am attaching if it is of any interest. Not sure where I got it- maybe it is already on the site.

                Re: "Technical Resources"

                Hi Mike,

Your input is most welcome. The FAQ page is, as you say, is almost painful to view (inherited from aeons ago). Feel free to email me an update; I can upload.

Your checklist does not indicate the type(s) of Taylorcraft to which it refers...although I can guess. There are a lot of these checklists about (usually of a homemade format). I have an inherent nervousness about publishing stuff on the Foundation site in the Foundation name which might be taken as Gospel, without official (read: FAA or TC holder or Approval Authority) sanction...I've no problem with folks putting their own name to their own work.

And I don't even get involved with USA liability problems...I'm a Brit!

Email me off-line...you know where I am.

                Regards,
                Rob

                  Re: "Technical Resources"

I am off to IA refresher this week-end, yes I would like to view any technical stuff that goes onto the Foundation web site. Work it up Mike & Rob; Bob & I will take a look. The FAQ's need reformated, however I think most is true ( So many owners think they view the gospel here and then get into a flap with their A&P or IA.... We still need to "conform to type certificate" for these certified aircraft. Mike can you e-mail me direct or call next week about the "New" factory? I can try you on Monday .

                    Re: "Technical Resources"

                    Hi Rob,
I have started on the FAQ page reformat and it is going to take some time. Lots of weird tags to remove. I will not change the content (Forrest is the Master Mechanic, not I!), only the format, to make it cleaner and easier to read.

I will build a few tables for the tabular data, and then style everything else in CSS. I will deliver it as a single html file with the CSS embedded in the html.

You can add my page to the website and then call it from your browser to see how it looks.

As for the Taylorcraft Inspection Checklist, I can give it to you as a DOC file if that is better to make changes. I don't mind making changes to it if it is inaccurate.

I will give Forrest a ring next week, I will be busy getting ready for HeliExpo in Houston.

Passed my IA re-certification. Mike I look forward to your coming aboard. Bob Ollerton & Rob Lees are the computer guru's. I just type and try not to screw things up too bad. I did most of the faq's , Bob added to it and Rob too. Thanks for the interest which I could make the Heli Expo , I am working with a fellow up here in Akron who should have a sumulator down there. I am retired member of Airborne Law Enforcement. bye Forrest

                            Re: "Technical Resources"

Lots of new stuff on the Foundation Technical Resources page:

A sample letter from 1985 from Dorothy Feris indicating that the fuselage frames on BC, BL and BF models are identical...this may help those trying to swap a C for a L (or vice versa!)

A 6.5 meg download of 1943 CAM18, plus a 42-page copy of Aeronautics Bulletin 7-H of the Air Commerce Regulations 1936 relating to the Alteration & Repair of Aircraft.

                            Several new 337's too.

See the "Update" section at the top of the page.

That Aeronautics bulletin 7H has the best information on repairng wood and welding repairs to tubing. It gives tube dimentions, welding requirments, etc. It is much more detail than 43 gives in my opinion. Tim
