Speed mod?

I would swear that my airplane is 4-5 mph faster after I installed new Univair struts, anybody else see anything like that?

Yes, I did too.

I think is was due to balanced wings in my case (my old struts were 1/4" different lengths) and perhaps a resultant lower angle of incidence.

I glide faster too, ie I need more nose up trim to keep 60 mph.

I need more nose up trim also. I wonder if the new struts are slightly shorter than the old ones, less dihedral, maybe more efficient. My old rear struts were adjusted way out, the new ones are adjusted way in.

Probably becuase the rigging was screwed up with before. No other reason for it to be faster than before.

I think it was rigged right, the only adjustment is the rear struts of course, and they're pretty easy to rig right. I've seen Monocoupe guys take out a little dihedral (all 4 struts adjust) to go faster, and I think the Univair struts must be slightly shorter than the old ones, a touch less dihedral.

Have you measured the old front struts against the new ones? Surely there is not that much difference between the two. I know we used to take some of the dihedral out of our Tri-Pacer and Pacer builds and they were much faster, but they had a bunch of dihedral to start with.
