Re: compression stuts
Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought there was three different lengths between spars and the shims made up the distance (there are at least two different length compression struts, at least from my stack). Got to admit I haven't looked close at the drawing yet since I don't have to assemble the 45 wing yet.
Somebody come up with the final word before I have to start putting that wing together. I could be starting any decade now!

Re: compression stuts
There are up to 3. The long one that is in every position except the wing and strut attach. The next shortest is at the wing attach where the wing attach bracket are. The shortest of them all goes at the strut attach point due to the addition of a plywood doubler. It is shorter but not by much. The prewars may not have this doubler which would only make 2 lengths, but there are 3. The most important of them all is the one at the wing attach point because it sets the distance between the spars, and if it does not match the fuse, it will make installing the wing fun.

Re: compression stuts
Some Wing drawings and fuselage ones are scanned and on CD, did them two weeks ago. I will check this out. David Whitaker and his Dad are coming out to help in the back room with drawings. The four microfilm from the Smithsonian are still here and we comply with the wishes of them to use them for non-commercial purpose, the owner supplies them to the rebuilder I guess. I will jump on it after the first of the year. had a lot on the plate.Taylorcraft Foundation, Inc
