  • One more tailwheel question

I have a Scott tailwheel on my 46. Today while at work The guy I work with that has owned many light planes and a few Taylorcrafts said that that wheel is way too heavy for the Taylorcraft. He said you need the little hard wheel.

Is the scott tailwheel too big and heavy?

Is there any advantage to it?

What is the main disadvantage to the smaller lighter hard one?

Looking in the 337's it is a full swivel scott replacing a Maule tailwheel. + 2 lb.

    Dan,

Scott makes a liitle hard wheel, and an inflatable wheel too.

    Do you have the inflatable?

Either way if the a/c weight and balance is acceptable to you then leave it as is.

Dan, Your friend is full of shit, most people that do any amount of bush flying use the 3200 Scott or alaska Bushwheel copy...on any/all of the different models. Its pretty standard conversion. Tim

Thanks Tim, he is almost 90 years old so "Old School" takes on a whole new meaning.
