  • Prewar Logo?

Has anyone else seen this logo? I'm familiar with the regular "wing" version, but hadn't seen this one. My friend Dave Stroup from Alliance sent me this transfer-- he says it is more correct for the 1940 BC-65. He offered it in color but at the time, I opted for black. Later, I decided to go with red to match the trim. I took it to a local sign shop and they duplicated it in vinyl for me. They still have the graphic so I can duplicate it if anyone cares.

#1705 is flying again! We ended up welding in new pieces of 4130 to replace the double-holed ones in the lift strut attach fitting. Then there was the repair of the singed fabric, etc. Plus another repair in the tail at the rudder post. All is well!

Thanks for your input and suggestions.

Lookin' good there Josh...now, hand over those hubcaps and nobody gets hurt.
I've never seen that logo before...but that doesn't mean much.
Glad to hear it's back in the air.

The single wing logo was what was on my 41 originally. I got a vinyl set made but the color didn't match my trim color so I hand painted my tail (yes, I'm TOTALLY NUTS!) I'll try and find some of the pictures.
Don't forget the "wing" is reversed on the other side.

Wow! Painted by hand?! I am impressed. Yup, the "wing" goes the other way on the other side. The sign shop will make a painting stencil, too.

Hah! I guess they must be pretty hard to find these days. Lots of folks have threatened to steal 'em. Except for the rolled edge they wouldn't be too hard to duplicate-- not that I'm offering!

Way to go Josh. Glad you are back in the air!

Here is a vinyl trim hint... get your decal cut out of white vinyl and then spray paint the decal when you are doing your trim color. Works good lasts a long time.

Josh, looks nice! The guy I bought my '39 from had used those same half wing logos when he recovered her. I like them myself. They deteriorated over the past 15 years and I had to replace them this summer, so I followed my friend Carl Carson's lead when he restored his '40 model, and used the old block letter style logo where the T's are taller at each end, but are aligned along the top (I guess "drooping" is a more correct word). The attached pic is not great but all I have handy right now. Someone else here suggested Moody Aero-Graphics. They have a few different Tcraft logos as standard order. I ordered new logos, N numbers, and had them custom make a pair of 15 1/2" stripes while at it. I can recommend them also, but I think yours look great and would leave them alone myself...

OK, I finally found the pictures of the 41 single wing logos. Now if I can only get the pictures attached. Took a while to paint but anyone who has known me in the tribe knows three things about me. I'm SLOOOOOW, I'm patient, and sometimes I'm not real smart (would have been a LOT faster to make a mask).

Josh, any chance you could resize your photos? My computer screen isn't that big.

                    Josh,
Those really look nice! Could you give me the information on where to buy a set?
                    Thanks,

                      Buell,

I went to a local sign shop here in Greenville, NC called Signs Now.

I can't remember the name of the guy working the counter, but he said he'd be happy to ship if requested. Their number is 252-355-0892 if the link above doesn't work. They can look it up with my name: Josh Brehm.

They charged me $17 each. A little steep perhaps, but they turned it around in a day.

Oops. Sorry about that. Over enthusiastic, I guess! Done. Refresh your browser if they're still huge photos.
