  • Nose Tank technical question

Can anyone verify for me whether the shape of the nose tank is different on the pre-war B model airplanes compared to the post-war B model airplanes?

Could the lower part of the tank have a steeper slope on the later airplanes?

This would explain a LOT about the previous engine issues I've been having. If the pre-war tanks have a shallower slope, then on takeoff acceleration the head pressure would be less than a post-war tank with a steeper slope.

    Re: Nose Tank technical question

Having seen both a pre-war terne-plate tank and a post-war aluminium one, I'd have to say they were the same.

Only the drawing (or a direct measuring comparison) would confirm it.

Anecdotally, I can not see why the basic shape would have changed. The width & length are both constrained by fitting within the steel tube forward fuselage frame, and they are both 12 USG, with apparently the same firewall exit point, so I can not see an alteration to the height (the only remaining dimension available to change) being different.

They are the same except material differences.
