Yeah, I saw this earlier today. Having watched it several times I believe it is a model plane. If you look at the wing root as it lands I believe I can see
    A. A wing and it is photo shopped. or
    B. The root has two holes just like a model plane would have to insert the metal rods that they use as wing connectors.
    C. The bounce on landing looks like a smaller model and the pic goes out of focus at that point so that the real plane could be spliced in with the end of the wing photo shopped to look like no wing.
I do not know, but something just does not look right. Watch the flight, there is no load at the point of failour.

Or I am all wet and that that is one h*ll of a pilot!

I must have viewed that 25 times and your right something didn't look quite right . The control inputs did seem to match the action though. It is conceivable for the knife edge flight but the landing did seem sketchy and blurry as you mentioned . I must go have another look .

I think the video is from a model airplane flight simulator. There have been videos of model airplanes landing with one wing panel. Tom

That is some serious effects to make that look real. By the way it is flying you can tell it is a simulator. No way would it turn into the wing that is still in place in real flight. Impossible to happen. It is the added dude at the end that makes you think for a moment. Power to weight on the real thing is not that good nor is the flight characterisitics.

I dunno, the real ships almost appear model like due to their rapid rate of
movement in all axis . Still that bounce on touchdown is the give away I think ?

I can assure you all this is an effect. I'm a motion graphics artist/animator at my day job. See this stuff all day. It's a good vid but not entirely real.

This one IS real. large scale RC plane loses wing in flight and manages a near perfect landing.

Another clue for me was that the pilot upon exiting the runway immediately opened the canopy and was bareheaded. ie no helmet, no headset, etc. Someone flying this type of routine typically wears something to protect their ears and noggin. The assumption would be that he was somewhat busy during the landing and wouldn't have time to take anything off. So I think it is a cool fake.
