Thanks for the drawbolt google results. The google results I got before pretty much tracked with the results I am getting with my left magneto, Chuckle. Drawbolt, eh, learn something every day. Would have pictured something like a sliding bolt for a gate??

If it was MIL-Spec it would be $250 from my experience working for aerospace contractors.

It is strongly suspected that if you were to contact the Taylorcraft Foundation's officer in charge of historical archives, and asked what kind of latches the factory used when originally manufacturing the aircraft... you might find evidence that they used drawbolt latches fairly similar to the Google links
I'm fairly certain they did not call Aircraft Spruce or Aviall to buy them for $250.00 in 1946 dollars!

There are parts on my 41 (original parts) that the identical same part (even the manufacturer and part number stamped in the side) is on the shelf at our neighborhood hardware store. There are LOADS of old Studebaker parts all over pre-war Taylorcrafts and I was told by one of the old-timers from the factory there was a Studebaker plant just down the road where they got things like knobs, door handles, trim cranks and interior fabric for the seats and headliner. Taylor was a good engineer who understood where "aircraft" parts were needed and where they weren't. An "aircraft" part becomes an "aircraft" part as soon as it is put on an aircraft. MOLT Taylor (not our Taylor) made airplanes from PAPER! Any part that can be demonstrated as able to safely carry the load, can become an "aircraft" part. It's a "paper" issue, not a naming issue.

Got lots of the big part ; they were trunk latch fasteners. yes anything becomes an "aircraft" part upon inspection by the factory . here attached are the fastners plus the famous "bumpers".
