Time to buy new 8.50 and tubes. Anyone got a prefference? Been told that some brands are taller than others, any truth to that? If so would like the tallest can get.

Re: Tire time
I'm interested in this info too, my 6.00 x 6 tires are getting bald and I'd like to go up to a larger size and higher ground angle.Taylorcraft : Making Better Aviators for 75 Years... and Counting

I do not know if this applies to the L-2 or not, but it was told to me that it applies to the B models.
It also seems very likely that most governmental inspector types would not be able to tell the difference between a 6.00 x 6 and an 8.00 x 6 from six feet. Any IA worth his gray hair would also list this as a "minor alteration", the definition of which I am sure would be met.
That's just an opinion from an admitted smart ass, your IA may feel different.Taylorcraft : Making Better Aviators for 75 Years... and Counting

Re: Tire time
You can change tires on a field approval, there is a copy of one on the tech page, most of the 8.50's will run you about 300.00 per side new and less for Desser retreads. You can also upgrade to 26" goodyears if you are feeling real froggy. They run 1000.00 per pair and use 8.50 tubes. If someone tries to tell you that you have to have an STC for tires, they are wrong, its a field approval. TimN29787
