  • To the AK tribe members

Well guys, the time is fast approaching for the big trip mentioned in an earlier thread a few months ago. I will arrive ANC on 9/3 and will be staying in Eagle River. I have a trip planned to Fairbanks on 9/4 and will be back to Eagle River on 9/6. I would love to hear from some of you. Maybe we can hook up and talk Tcrafts or maybe even get a short flight in, weather permitting. I will depart for home on 9/8. A couple of brews would not be out of the question either!

Glen, the moose hunting season runs from Aug. 20 to Sept. 20 where I'm at...so your schedule catches some of us offguard...but I believe you will be able to touch base with some of us...This is a big place, but keep checking in...something should turn up. Dick

Sorry, Glen but I'll be out of town the whole time you're here. But, you'll be in good hands with Jim. And, be sure to go see the aviation museum over on Lake Hood while you're here. It's got some great stuff about our flying history. Steve.

I will be out on the Island until 1 Oct, but maybe next time....You will be here for the whole 2 weeks of fall, take notice of how the trees change as you go north, its a major change in the 200 air miles to Fairbanks. Tim

Re: To the AK tribe members

I'm back home now from what is best decribed as a trip of a lifetime. Thanks to the AK tribe members that responded so kindly to my post. My apologies to those that I didn't get to meet due to my tight schedule. A special thanks to Jim Brewer who took me on a flight in his F-19 on floats that I will always remember. To the rest of the Tribe, you owe it to yourselves to go to Alaska if you've ever wanted to go. Aside from the spectacular scenery, the generosity and hospitality of its residents alone make the trip worthwhile. I've checked serveral items off my bucket list on this trip. I'll try to post some pics or a link to some as soon as I can.
                Thanks again,
                Glen Brodeur,

Re: To the AK tribe members

I've made a few trips to AK a few years ago while ferrying Super Cubs,Husky's,180's, & even a Beaver. But it was all pre-9/11 when it was much easier to cross the borders. Since then the guy that I was working for has retired and sold all of his airplanes. I wish I had been more active on this group back then because it would have been great to meet some of you guys. Alaska is truely the greatest place on earth IMHO and I can't wait until I have a good reason to go back. I'm not a big avid hunter,I used to be when I was younger but now I enjoy watching more then killing but I still turkey hunt. I do love to fish and I miss coming up there and spending a few days fishing. I'll be back before too long and I'll try to look some of you guys up so you can show me how you are really suppose to fish up there, lol.

                    Glen,

It was great meeting you, and it was a pleasure showing off the beautiful scenery in our state. I look forward to seeing your pictures. Come back and see us again sometime!
