Any one have a idea at what serial number they switched from the built-up ribs to the stamped ribs?

It happened during the war, the factory took older aircraft and converted them to BC-12D-85's after the war so you could have either. Tim

          George,

What's your serial number; mine is 7122 and has stamped ribs. I was told that this s/n should have built-up ribs, but don't find any documentation of the wings being replace. Also, one side is rib stitched and the other wing has the clips. Which is correct and legal?

Stitched and martin clips are both legal. Tim

              Re: Wing Repairs

Fabric much be attached in same method as used by the manufacture. Any deviation of attachment methods is considered a major alteration. Major alterations can only be done by an STC or 337. This is per AC 43.

Rib stitch was used on built up rib pre war airplanes, post war with stamped ribs used martin wire.

I know there is an STC for post war wings to use PK screws. Is there also an STC for rib stitch?

Its just a field approval, There is a 337 listed in the tech section for marson/olys rivets....Tim
