    Good catch, i just posted too! I had been out mowing, Andy McAnaul alerted me by e-mail thanks. I posted into the thread about the inspections.

      Those ole boys at the FAA are sure funny:
      3) If you find cracking or material loss due to corrosion during any of the inspections required
      in paragraph (e)(1) or (e)(2) of this AD, before further flight, do the following:
      (i) Contact Taylorcraft Aviation, LLC at 2124 North Central Avenue, Brownsville, Texas 78521;
      telephone: 956-986-0700 to obtain an FAA-approved repair scheme or replacement procedure;
      Have any of them tried to contact the factory, Oh, they make me laugh, T.T.

          I may have found a source for replacement attach fittings, I will keep everyone posted once they get approval for production....Tim

            Not sure how many would be required...I would think only a handful.

              I think its appropriate to thank all the "sane" individuals who got involved in this an gave the FAA good input and kept this from being a total runaway,but thats just me.This all looks "do"able.Ladies and Gentlemen this could have been much worse.

                Can someone post a link to the service bulletin?

                  Go to the first post in the top thread on this forum site titled "wing strut attach fitting" (in the sticky section) and it is there.

                    Re: The new AD is out!

                    Just downloaded and printed AD 2008-09-18.
                    In the Compliance section of AD it states "To address this problem, you must do the following, unless already done".
                    I have done this inspection in compliance with the fitting service bulletin No 2007-002, in January of this year at the time of the strut removal for the ultrasound inspection and corrosion proofing.
                    Am I correct in my thinking that I do not need to do anything further as regards this AD?
                    I am sure as heck not taking my struts off again this soon.....

                      I was thinking the same thing. I have already complied with the Service Bulletin. Do I need to have my AI put something in the logbook about also complying with the AD?

                        If you complied with the service bulletin, then the IA MUST make a notation that the AD compliance has been met for the 48 month period....if on skis or floats...or its good till you install floats or ski's Tim

                          Small point just for the record you only need to have an A&P do the AD compliance.

                          Of course an IA can do it too.

                          Might make it easier for some folks.

                            Re: The new AD is out!

                            I have a 1941 BL-65 that has been STCed to the C-85 long mount. I have not received either the strut AD or the strut fitting AD from the FAA, but have received an AD for the Lycoming engine. Is there some way my plane is exempt from the two strut/fitting ADs?

                              No, you need to comply.
