Try Basic Aircraft. I have a wind generator from them that works very well. They stand behind their products, too. Problem is the Taylorcraft STC is only for a BC12-D. I don't know if you can get a field approval or not. Here's a link to their web site if you are interested.

I am sure he wants and original. I have a complete one, and another with no prop. Have not made up my mind to sell them yet.

Hey, does anyone here know where I can look at a photo of the factory wind generator? Also, did any of the pre-wars have them? Just curious what they look like. Brie

Mine was a 41 "Deluxe" and a wind generator was listed on it. I have pictures but they aren't digital. Has a cylindrical body with a big cast aluminum prop. It is clamped in a welded tube strut that comes out of the belly.
I have the instructions and wiring diagram for it somewhere.

That is a pic of the SAFE prop. lol! The cast screw in ones are notorious for chunking blades. What I am looking for is a pic of the generator lock mechanism. I have not even found it in the blue prints

                      Re: wind generator

COOL photo. My friend Jim just climbed into the car and saw the photo, to which he says, " Hey, I have one of those, brand new in the box."
I'm trying to buy it off of him right now.
It turns out that back in 1982, Jim walked into to one of the hangers at the Fabens, Tx. airport, and this old guy of about eighty something was showing Jim around his hanger. Jim sees this open bok on a workbench and asks the guy if he can seperate the old guy from the generator. The guy says that He will never use it, and he GIVES it to Jim. This one has the sand cast prop on it. Let's see if I can talk Jim out of it. Brie

Don't forget that I started this string because I am looking for an authentic wind generator for my L2-B. If one comes available I would like to know.

                        Thanks Tom

                            Re: wind generator

That is the same generator that was mounted on the belly of my 41. Mount is different (not on strut) but the generator and prop are the same.
I have all of the mount parts for mine and if you have pretty much infinite patience (or don't mind bugging me OFTEN) I can take pictures and maybe put a drawing of the mount together.
