Has anyone ever seen autofuel cause Stitts to blister when there is a leak on it? When I removed my wings in December, some fuel dripped out and now it looks like a section of my fuselage has hives...Tim

Must have Aerothane or some type of enamel on it. It will only do that if the fuel came from the back side. What happens is the fuel will soften the fill and spray and turn the enamel coating loose. No good way to fix except peel it back and refinish the area.

I just talked to Polyfiber, they said that the polytone was a 1 part paint and the chemicals in the autofuel caused the blistering, I am supposed to wipe off the blistered area through the layers until I get a good layer and then replace the layers. Tim

Do not pass GO, stop what you're doing and call Norm Douthit at Norm's Aero in San Bernardino, California. He is equal or better of an expert than anyone on the Stits materials, period. There may be one or two people ALMOST as knowlegable, but you will not find anyone who knows more than him except maybe Ray Stits himself, and I think Norm might know more than Ray. He is an absolutely honorable guy, his word is good, and he had been the Stits tech rep for decades.
