  • Static RPM too low

With full power, my A-65-8 will get a max of 1950 rpm. The TCDS says not under 2070. I had the prop repitched with no change. Both mag drops are equal at 20 rpm -- the carb heat works ok. What are some other causes to have checked? Thanks all..

      try using an optical tachometer

also make sure you have fresh fuel

Mixture or mag timing, or a little of both. IF the tach is accurate.

remember the quick tach check , after dark, place the ship with the back toward a light, run the engine up and at 1800 RPM the blades will appear tostop. 60 cycle / sec you know!

Thanks all. The tach checks OK -- will look at mixture and mag next..

              Timing and compression check too.

Must be a gas discharge lite like a mercury vapor or flourescent. Worked good for me at 1800 rpm.
