    Looking for the quilted insulation like the T-Craft in the new Sport Aviation Magazine has on the interior of the boot cowl and firewall. The article is about EAA Chapter 790 that rebuilt a T-Craft and the one picture shows a beautiful interior with this quilted material. Any idea's where this comes from?

      Re: Insulation

      Two choices come to mind:

      Wag Aero Firewall Pad which is gray, quilted, and fire retardant
      or
      Aircraft Spruce Firewall Blanket which is black in colour and cosmetic only

          I have a firewall blanket already, I just like the finished look on the inside of the boot cowl and I would like it all to match.

              I got mine from Airtex too, custom colours, about $45 five years ago, as I recall.

                  Hi Dave;

                  Not a project any more, it's been flying almost two years now (and approaching 300 hours)...all over Europe including Scandinavia, Iberia and points between. Thanks for the compliment!

                          Hi folks,
                          How did everyone deal with cutting the holes in the blanket for fuel, wiring, etc.? I am going to cut round holes in the blanket and install metal grommets. However, around the four engine mount bolts I will remove parts of the blanket to preserve the metal on metal contact for making sure those bolts are tight and not be affected by having the blanket sandwiched in between. Thanks! Jay

                            The metal grommets will rub and chafe on anything they touch, just take it to an upholstery shop and have them sew the edges and holes.
