  • at long last! 43122 annual nightmare ends

yep. after 4 long months and I don't even want to say how much $$ the annual for N43122 was officially signed off today. It's over.

We have a new aluminum fuselage tank
New (and rerouted) Cessna 180 throttle cable
Functional right wing aux tank (left was placarded inop)
Proper paperwork for the McCauley 1B90 Klip Tip prop
    3 struts passed NDT
installed the 4th strut I had to acquire from another forum member
    installation of Hooker shoulder harnesses
    new brake linings
patched cowling and replaced zeus fasteners
    new fuel and oil lines
repair of overly sloppy trim system
    elt installation
re-timed mags (they were both retarded by two gear teeth)
    fixed leaking pushrod tube
removed excessive slop in aileron pushrods

and a handful of other misc. small repairs.

I am hoping to put this thing back in the air where it belongs in a few days.

a million thanks to all those who helped me out and offered up some extremely valuable advice. Without your help I fear I'd still be going through this mess and for who knows how much longer.

A great day in the neighborhood, now if we survive the cold front tonight perhaps you can make it to Alliance some time....Divide all that by the number of years you will be flying her!!

I mentioned what you had told me about the loading schedule to the IA and he was in complete agreement and signed it off. I am still going to have it re-weighed by another company with different scales. They were supposed to do it yesterday but had to cancel. Hopefully this week. I am eager to see if I am really tail heavy when empty.

Either way my plane is ready for flight!!! I'm so stoked!

                        thanks fellas!

you will be very glad to have the wing tank too.
I haven't even flown it yet and I'm already glad I have that tank. We flew it all year last year on the fuse tank alone and while it was always enough there were times that I'd have liked to played around in the air a little longer and had to cut it short.

We plan to always keep about 3 gallons or so in it and run it through every few weeks or so.

also, my new Cessna 180 throttle control has been completely rerouted and makes a nice wide arc all the way to the throttle arm. It is soooooo smooth. When you look underneath the dash you see a nice shiny new tank and new throttle cable and all new plumbing. looks really good and I already feel safer flying it

howdy Carl! it's off white with a teal blue stripe down the middle of the fuselage. Gold Canyon is just behind the bird in these shots. I landed out at a little dirt strip just south of Gold Canyon by about 8 miles or so.

and my favorite shot before we removed the wheel pants
