BC12D N6602N SN 3-13002 Born in May 1949, lived in central Louisiana its entire 750+ hours! Never on skies (!!!!) or floats. A-A11 inspection shows no problem. We can all breath easier, one less TCraft will fall apart in the air!!

I bought a 65 hp t-craft last fall, completely rebuilt last year. It was his 3rd rebuild and it looks great. The struts, according to the logs, were sent to a company that does xrays of these things and were found to be free of rust, etc. and solid. Should I worry or should I trust that this company did things right. (At 40 I would not worry, but at 70 I worry about alot of things! The rest of the airplane is really well done including the engine. Comments or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks! JC

It was in my brain from Manual 18, the Mechanics handbook and the newer 43.13 , I will look it up for the facts right after I have my Sauerkraut & Pork !!

    Hi Forrest,
I recall a 10% allowance too. But I can't find any justification of it in AC43.13-1b.

Did a PDF search on the entire document for "10", "90" and "percent".

Where did you find it? One of the AC65 handbooks??

It comes from the IA that there is slight corrision and that they should be relpaced. :
Where is the supply A-A11 strut attach fittings?
Am I the only one who has been told that they should be replaced due to slight corrision by their IA?

Took my struts in and had them Ultrasound. although the material was thin it passed inspection. Tech said it was not corrosion but just thin material.

Thanks guys. Got my glasses checked and cleaned, looked again and now I too see the bolt for what it really is, just a bolt, no tube.

No tube in mine either. In the pictures that I posted above, the cylinder seen is the bolt.
