    Re: taylorcraft owner club existing????

Bruce said he had hung it up after almost 30 Plus years. Can not blame him. He did a wonderful job for a long time. NOW the new guy Steve Crog or Grog or whatever. I have not heard boo from him and I too wonder why we do not have a posting or two from him on this site. May it be he is not allowed? Or he is simply not ready and poorly organized??? .. I do find it odd we had not heard any more and many of us apparantly have not heard from him even though we were paid up in the old club through the year.

Steve Krog....is my instructor. Very professional and very organized. I am sure Steve will do an excellent job with the TOC. I have not talked with him in nearly a month but will ask about progress next time I see him.

I received today the first edition of Steve Krog's new TAYLORCRAFT NEWS - looks like a worthy successor to the TOC Newsletter.

                Mike:

Is there a chance of getting a "sample" copy before subscribing to the newsletter?. Is there an electronic copy? Thanks

                  Re: Taylorcraft owner club existing????

I think maybe the new newsletter is being sent to anyone registered as a Taylorcraft owner. I am a member with two planes and just got a second copy today.
Hang tight and you may get a first copy in the next day or so. If not send me your address and you can get one of mine. NICE newsletter! This should bring lots of new members into the tribe.
If we aren't sending copies of the first one to every owner, we need to.

I too had heard good things about the Cub news letter and thought well as good as Bruce Bixler was perhaps change will be good. I have not received a thing nor heard a thing from this Steve Crodd or Clogg whatever .
Sorry to be so grumpy but I was completely paid up and off into nothing now.

Taylorcrafts are the best plane out there in my book anyhow. I wish I could say the same about those folks who are trying to make money with them.

Sorry again for the rant. Hopefully I'll get a suprise in the mail or at least someone will care to share with us how we get in touch with this guy.
I will be the first to report and share any good news when its here.

                      Thanks all

I don't know if all the newsletters will be as good as the first but Steve Krog blew me away with the first one. REALLY first class! I really don't WANT the next step up, which would be the slick paper "magazine" type newsletters. We don't need (or want) that.

Heck, he even punched holes so it could be put in a binder!

                            Hank,

Thanks I have been hearing it was good. Do you have the contact info for him.

Andrew please re-read my post. I believe I stated my frustration and why. If that offends you sorry. All of us can lighten up (me included)

                            Thanks

                              Re: taylorcraft owner club existing????

Now that we are lightened up. Steve Krog, 1002 Heather Lane, Hartford, WI 53027-9045 262.966.7627 [email protected] . PLEASE read a copy of the latest Sport AViation for a great story on Steve & Sharon Krog and their able assistant Joel Gehring, whose father was one of the ORIGINAL Taylorcraft guys 35 years ago. .
Steve & Sharon have been sitting in the Type Club tent across from the Taylorcraft Owners Club & Taylorcraft Foundation set up for years.
The situation with the Bruce Bixler and the Taylorcraft Owners Club has been explained here in Alliance at the last Fly-In ; at Airventure during the forumn. and in my own newsletter. Steve please excuse some members, when they get off their meds they can be viscious.
Now for my COMMENTS : The Owners Club started here in Alliance in 1973 with the First Fly-In , this has all been explained many times on this forumn and my electronic newsletters. First President was Wayne, then another fellow , then Merton Meade Jr. for about three years and then WE elected Bruce Bixler to carry on the tradition.
Each year for all these years Bruce has been re elected to the position of President of the Taylorcraft Owners Club, THEY are the ones to put on the fly-in at the Barber Airport the week-end after the 4th of July. With the formation of the Taylorcraft Foundation; I, Forrest Barber had to wear three hats at that time of year; FBO Barber Aircraft, Foundation President, and loyal member of the TOC ( Taylorcraft Owners Club) of which I am a member "Forever" according to my membership card.
In 2006 at the annual meeting of the Foundation in July it was suggested that the Foundation & TOC join together as one type club and WE would then have an outside source; ie Steve Krog do the newsletter for the combined group. I had talked to others too! Bruce & his family would have received the $5.00 per member for turning over the data base of members.
Bruce did not want to do this, he explained that this was deeply loved by his family & they wanted to continue the operation as it was being done.

The matter was dropped. The Directors of the Foundation did not want to publish a hard copy newsletter.
WE , The Foundation, have done three electronic ones ( titled the "Taylorcrafter" )during 2007 and will continue to do so.

Bruce apparently sold the rights to the Taylorcraft Owners Club to Steve Krog and he has published the " Taylorcraft News" which went out to all members on the mailing list.
The original Taylorcraft News was by the factory for the factory.

The "Taylorcrafter" was " published by and for the employees of the Taylorcraft Aviation Corporation, Alliance, Ohio, and dedicated to the principle that the interests of the employees and the employer are mutual and inseparable".
THIS is the direct quote from the masthead. We have almost all copies stored here at the Foundation. I may scan and attach a few pages. They really need to be placed on CD. I have a few copies of the Taylorcraft News.
NOW , what do I want to do. I believe I am the one that set up the talks with Steve in the first place. HE and HIS family and business are a great asset to the Type Club movement. I will co operate with him and IF he wishes will write articles for the newsletter, OR he may pick out parts of some of my e-newsletters to use.
All issues on the struts & attach fittings are completely current on the Discussion forumn vb.tayorcraft.org and we will update the web site asap. www.taylorcraft.org The printed newsletters and magazines ( like Sport Aviaton & Vintage) and newspapers like General Aviation News are always a bit behind do to printing and mailing.
I truly believe the web site & forumn that was set up by Bob Ollerton & Ruth are the way to go. Most of The Owners Club members could never understand that reasoning. Not one member requested I send them a hard copy of the Foundation newsletters. Remember all you fellows who read and post on this site IT was the Foundation that did this service.
We have so far not insisted that you pay your $15.00 to the Foundation to use this site, I do monitor that feature and just wonder why some do not join up.
Love you all , I am monitoring the weather for an early morning flight over to Grove City , Pa.. to help set up a new IAC Chapter.
