I too have many questions, keep reading while I take Kelli-Belle for a walk.
thank you computer savy people for the PDF for those of you who could use the direct link perhaps check your computers mine works fine... I even learned about a "sticky". Too late to talk with Andy today. I will read and underline and try to follow all the thinkings. Going over to Acurion by CAK tomorrow. We have gotten the best changes we could at the time. As you can see, even some of the best in the business apparently got confused.

Comments on the EAA Vintage Magazine article ??

I'm very pleased that the FAA has listened to (and acted upon) some of the comments they received.

I'm disappointed that no response was made to my comment about the possibility of repairing a failed strut in accordance with AC43.13 (e.g. sleeving).

When I first read in the proposed new AD that the FAA amends by removing the old AD and by adding a new AD and that we had until January 9 2008 to submit comments that there would be extension of time to comply and a chance to comment before a new deadline.- I see now that it still states that we had until 3 months from August 20 2007.

This is true.....no extension yet... comment on that during the comment period !! Yes we repair struts all the time that is the reason for Part 43. Here in Alliance we have a few ships on hold till this AD is final. In a nut shell ; for folks around me; I RECOMMEND that the struts be taken off and taken to ACUREN USI www.acuren.com the testing will be done in the Twinsburg, Ohio facility , the contact person is Darrin Vaughan, Sales Manager, (talked to him today)[email protected] ph 330-899-0566 Uniontown, Oh.

I would like to have four sets at a time go from Barber Airport, 2D1. up for testing. Henry, Bruce, Dave, Forrest and any others contact me for a date. I will drive the first batch up maybe this month. Then around the country and the World our members can use the ones suggested on the forumn OR use www.acuren.com to find a facility near you. This facility will charge $275.00 for a set of four struts. This price may vary in different regions.

Another thing that I have to stress highly. INSPECT the strut attach fittings,do a good job, IMHO I expect a NPRM very soon on the fitting inspection.

                        (7) As a terminating action for the repetitive inspections
required by this AD, all vented lift
                        struts (P/Ns A–A815, A–A854, and FAA-approved
                        equivalent P/Ns) may be replaced
with sealed lift struts (P/Ns MA–A815, UA–
                        A815 (for Models BC12–D/D1 and BCS12–
                        D/D1 only), MA–A854, UA–854 (for Models
BC12–D/D1 and BCS12–D/D1 only), or FAAapproved
                        equivalent P/Ns).

                        I think (P/Ns MA-A815 and MA-A854) is Airframes Inc.

the Original Taylorcraft Sealed Strut P/N is MA-A815, for the Airframes, Inc P/N is AF-MA-A815 this is for the Sealed Front Lift Strut, and for the Sealed Rear Lift Strut ,The Original Taylorcraft Sealed Strut P/N MA-A854, and for the Airframes, Inc P/N AF-MA-A854. This is the Data I recieved from Airframes with my approved Sealed Struts. I thought I'd add this to the mix.
