Re: BC12D Shock Cords
The 1110 is for the 1750 lb F-21B & F-22 ; they are out there. IF you get 4new 9010HD they should work okay. Using the one 1110 does stiffen the system up a bit, but somebody had a problem with using unmatched cords, oh well , try it you might like it. Some have saved the best of the ones coming off and put a third cord over the other two. The 11104 is for the D Models 1110 is 11/16th ten inches around. the 11104 is 11/16th and 10.4 inches around so it will be loose to begin with.Taylorcraft Foundation, Inc

Re: BC12D Shock Cords
I'm running 2 bungees on each side...each pair consisting of one 9010 and one 1010 .... Paid right at 80 bucks apiece for the 1010, in Anchorage. I see Univair has the 1010 listed per the following link:
At Univair, we’re experts at salvaging and rehabilitating classic planes with our vintage aircraft parts for sale. You can buy classic aircraft parts here!
When I got the bill for 160 bucks for two 1010's, I called Reeves and asked if they double-billed me accidently...The response: "Nope...That's what they cost...and the lifetime of the bungees has gone down to boot". They had some older bungees priced at what I was used to, but they said the last order that they had received had given them sticker shock also. My understanding was that Superior is using a synthetic material, rather than natural rubber, hence a difference in longevity.
Anyhow, I really like the resulting stiffness of the gear...which when coupled with the "give" in the 8.50 X 6.00 tires, gives just the right "feel". DickDick Smith N5207M TF#159

Re: BC12D Shock Cords
Duane Cole just ran a 3/8 bolt with washers through the gear on each side and let the tires do the cushioning......... The older L-2 ( D models to me) also use the 1192 cord that is 11/16 by 9 1/4 in. The 1010 is really a Piper thing.
The 1110 used on the F-21B & F-22 are really from the Goodyear Blimp ; anybody near a Blimp base check it out they always overstock.Taylorcraft Foundation, Inc

Re: BC12D Shock Cords
Mike,
The shock cords for the pre-war B models are P/N 9090. They are 9/16x9. The BC12D's are 9/16x10. I use 2 on each side on my 41 and they seem to work very well.

While it is true that our Goodyear blimps use the 1110N shock cords from SBC Industries, we do not overstock.... no do we sell parts - unless, of course, you are interested in purchasing tires. To the kind lady from California who phoned me this morning inquiring about purchasing 1110N shock cords, I apologize for not being of more help to you. I can only suggest that you contact your favorite aviation supply company.

Re: BC12D Shock Cords
Just as I thought all was going too well with purchasing the 1110 shock cords from SBC, I received this
" I'm sorry but we do not accept credit cards. Most of our customers are parts distributors and have accounts with us, therefore we do not have enough need for credit card processing. We will need to quote you a total with freight to your address and you can prepay with a check. There will be a slight lead time to make these up for you so awaiting the check should not cause a delay.

Looks as though we'll only have 9010HD's purchased locally

Re: BC12D Shock Cords
In the past, the Taylorcraft Foundation with Barber Aircraft as the vehicle used to stock 1110 , 9010, 9010HD , 9010HDX, 9090 , and the ever popular 9090DS. also the other two for the D models. We ordered in batches of 48 at a time and passed the savings on to the Taylorcraft Foundation members.Taylor-Thomas where the other guys , then Superior emerged as the leader. It could be done again, I had to eat a few in the past.Taylorcraft Foundation, Inc

Re: BC12D Shock Cords
As I presently understand it, the 9010HD are the shock cords to use on the BC12-D with 1200# Max Gross. Is there a better shock cord or is that the best way to go? I have two 9010 HD shock cords on each landing gear. It appears that they need to be changed out after three or four years @ 100 hours per year.
Thanks,
Frank DeBartolo

Re: BC12D Shock Cords
That is about right , you fly a lot compared to a lot of folks. I do mine about 4-5 years apart. 9010HD is the way . I am calling Superior on Tues to see about pricing again.Taylorcraft Foundation, Inc
