  • led inspection light

Wanted to share this as someone here was asking me where to get this item a while ago when I said I had seen one and that it looked neat. I couldn't find any then.
I coudn't get a proper link to transfer so:
Go to the Harbor Freight Tools online site and search for item: 95414-1cmb. It is a cute little set of two flexible shaft led lights for $10.00. I have a sale catalog that lists them for $5, but it is Summer 2007.
Looks like they are small enough to fit into a spark plug hole.

    Re: led inspection light

I tried using led lights a few years ago and found that I cannot use them becuase the light has an odd shade to that just throws off my ability to observe and inspect.

I have not tried the LED on a stalk. I know what you mean about the color of the light.
What I have found with regular small blue/white LED flashlights is that they are really excellent for reading poorly stamped numbers such as on aluminum on the back of a mounted instrument or radio. Appears to be because the light is very flat and uniform without sharp bright spots.
When I get mine I am going to see how it works for looking into cylinders. I can see how it might not be much good for spars and such.

I know the LED's are cool, but I have a Mini Mag Light on my tool box. I took a spare bulb, some long 22ga wires, and some heat shrink to make an inspection light for looking in cylinders. It works great. Tom

I used to use an incandescnet bulb that medical supply shops have, they are used by hospitals for surgical procedures. They use 2 AA batteries. They used to cost about $12.00 each by the dozen. I will see if I can get a number to order them. Tim
