My Original was steel. I think the aluminum ones wear out too fast but that is only an opinion.... Tim

        Re: Wanted Rudder Arm

I have a drawing on a really good way to repair worn holes on the rudder control arm and how to make it last longer. If anyone is interested I would be glad to mail a copy or I can take a picture and e-mail it.

I put eyebolts in my rudder arm to attach to the tailwheel.

lots of folks have the cast ones, but they are oversize on the post it must be turned down to maybe 3/4 in ?? Wag Aero for one. Then we do drill and bush to prevent wear on the arm from the spring. OR use a clevis with a bolt thru the arm ...

                Re: Wanted Rudder Arm

Actually I have one. I didn't use it as the vertical post seemed it would be too weak when taken down to that diameter. If you really want it (and I can find it) It is yours, but you didn't get it from me LOL.

Anyone out there been using one turned down to fit? Working OK?

                    Re: Wanted Rudder Arm

Instead of using/making up the clip to attach the spring to the tailwheel arm I just used a cable shackle.

Be careful using shackles. There are some cheap cast ones out there that will crack under low loads. FORGED or machined (from bar stock) shackles are much stronger but even, then remember you are changing the design and if you put your plane on it's nose along side a runway after your mod fails the insurance company may decline to pay for damage and you could get a friendly visit from the FAA.
