My experiance has shown that most C-85's will burn around 5 gph @ 2300-2350. Most A65's will use about 3-3.5 at 2100-2150. I have also noticed if you take an 0200 and run it at 2100 it will also burn around 3.5-4 gph, 4.5-5 @ 2300 and 5.5-6 @ 2450. It's not as much the size engine you run but the way you run it. Most 4 cylinder conts will burn roughly the same amount at the same rpm's.

Unfortunatley I am not one to pull the trottle back when i don't have a speed limit I can reach. Not to mention I don;t like the way a taylorcraft handles either when it is loafing around. It reminds me of a Cessna on a good day.

I agree with Kevin's numbers on the 85 and the 65. About 4+ a tad at 2150 and around 5 at 2300 on the 85.
I usually run 2150 or so on my 85 around the area and push it up to 2300 if I am going somewhere. On mine the extra rpms will give me about 8-10 more statute. I believe I have a standard prop.

Most of the time around 2450. You probably had plugs fouling or even bad gas if it sat with car gas. Prop size will also affect fuel consumption as well. If you are running a flat prop, you are not pulling any manifold pressure and not burning as much fuel as one with more pitch.
All true guys. I am a little like Mike, I usually run at 75% if going somewhere(except in my Comanche 250,55-60% @ 5000-8000ft,10gph,and 150-160kts ground). Sometimes I back it way down if playing around the pattern or site seeing. My father however likes to play with these things just to see what the results are,i.e. fuel burn on different engines over an hour or two at different power settings.He will fly the same airplane for an hour or straight at one setting,then land and top off,see what it takes to fill it back up then go do it again at a different power setting over the exact same course for the exact same amount of time. It's neat sometimes to see what results he comes back with.
