I just got my paperwork from the people who did my xrays on my struts and they are leagle for two more years. I was at airframes today boy are they busy they have orders for about 450 struts. I checked them out they are nice the rear strut is over twice as strong as the factory ones. they got there
stc this week so there ready to go. 450 per strut

Are thet approvef fo a F19 strut? Do you have a phone number or web address?

Ok, I have my phase 1 signed off. I thought the three months started from the day of the sign off. But the signoff in my logbook gave me three months from the effective date of the AD, or August 20.

I read the actual AD and it would appear the three months actually started on August 20. Is that correct? Do I have to do the next phase before November 20?

I read it as 90 days from Aug 20th, which would be Nov 18 (I think).

I have been working with Harry Ingram at the factory, Lee Budde at Airframes, Inc. all the fellows at Univair plus the gang at Wag-Aero.

May the best man or lady win! Struts are available from three sources IF yours do not pass inspection. then make your choice. The time is probably going to be extended right now! Watch the factory web site and here. below is e-mail text from Lee at Airframes:

I just recieved the STC from the FAA. We are in full swing production and will have 20 sets completed monday with more built every following day. Thanks for your help and guidance. So eddy current is still a valid inspection method in this situation, if you want to do it every two years??
There is no direct mention of Airframes' struts, when they specifically mention Univair's. ?

Just got my own copy of PDF from Andy McAnaul. It is on file here with the Foundation. Many questions again, but the prior Eddy Current does work.

Those other sources merely have to apply for the AMOC for their struts.
Now I can sign off some inspections up here. I am out of sight today & tomorrow, Birthday tomorrow , Uncle Joe having major surgery today or tomorrow. I will check back as I can do it!

AD 2007-16-14 Alternate Method of Compliance (AMOC)

The AD 2007-16-14 AMOC for inspection of LIFT STRUTS is available on the Taylorcraft Factory website.

AD now issued in the UK

The AD was issued to owners in the UK last Saturday, the 17th. They just photocopied the FAA AD, so the original compliance dates of 20th August & 20th November still stand, so we "officially" only got 3 days notice of grounding.

X-Ray = 4 years inspection interval?

X-Ray = 4 years inspection interval?

Am I interpreting the FAA AMOC FAA-2007-28478-0075.1-1 correctly?

Page1:

"This AMOC provides for the following:
...
3. Allows you to extend the repetitive inspection time in paragraph (e)(2)(B) [of the AD] from 24 months to 48 months for those that did the initial inspection using radiograph" [X-ray]

I interpret this to mean if the struts pass the initial X-ray inspection, then no inspection is necessary for another 4 years. And paragraph (e)(3)(A) says 4 year intervals from then on.

Correct?
