I cant afford anything from Alaska Bush wheels and they dont like to get poked with anything, But I have McCreary 8.50's and love them. I am considering the Gar Aero tail wheel mod though, which is about 1/3 the cost of a bush tailwheel. Tim

Tim, are the McReary's very heavy? I looked thru some tire listings and found that larger tires are unfortunately quite a bit heavier than they ought to be. I want to put on 8.50's when my current 6.00's get worn out, and I couldn't seem to find any bigger tires that were lightweight. What do you figure the McCreary's cost you in higher weight?

          This is from Desser.......all 850-6's

The Goodyear at +/- 14 lbs.

          The others are +/-

          STA Airtrac 17
          STA Superhawk 15.5
          Michelin 15

          850 x 6 Tube is about 3 lbs.

I bought new 4-ply AERO CLASSIC 600-6's and am going to sell them and put the Airtrac 800-6's on, as that seems to be the best compromise in my case. Anyone want some NEW 600-6 Aero Classics for cost?

          Diameters on the Airtrac's:
          AA1J2 - 800-6 Airtrac 19 inches
          AA1K4 - 850-6 Airtrac 21.5 inches

            Re: alaska bush wheel 850-6

I never let the weight bother me, and I only lost a few MPH, so I think that the gain is worth more than the loss of useful. I only run about 10-12 psi so they are nice and cushy on landing. Any less pressure and you might roll a valve stem. Be aware if you run this low of pressure and you land on pavement, it will be different than landing with the smaller tires. They seem to stick to the runway more. Tim
