  • Shielded Ignition Question Bendix SF4RN-8

We are trying to put a shielded harness in my plane. We have one mag model as above and the other is an SF4R-8. Does anyone know where we can get a set of shielded wires. Does anyone know anything about these mags and their capability of utilizing shielded cables? Also, does anyone know the difference between the RN-8 amd the R-8? We are tired of the static!!!!

Fresno should have them, they can tell you the differences also. Tim

SF4RN-8 When in good condition best mag around ...as long as its coupled with an Impulse mag (Bendix of course also gives you the best there too!)
Fresno does have the shielded harness for em

Call AL at Savage magneto, see what he knows also. Good guy to work with on the old mags. He redid 2 set for me last summer. Tim

Look at the gear side of the mag. I think the difference is the RN has a grease seal around the shaft the the R doesn't. You can purchase shielded wires, but you also need to run shielded plugs, and a noise filter on the switch wires.
