Re: Recommendations for a Westward route to the CA coast

    Forrest,
You may just get your chance. John told me that he wanted to have you look at his ship when I told him that I was planning on heading to your place this spring with "Manu Sina". Sabrina

Re: Recommendations for a Westward route to the CA coast

              Hi All

I made Mojave last afternoon. Tehachapi was impassible, and got down just before the gales started. Wind looks to be easterly this AM.

Rode in the Albatross on Lake Meade. Got inspired and got my ASES on the Colorado by Bullhead 30 Jan.

May post pictures later as time allows. Nothing but good weather so far.

              cheers

                  John,

Did you get your ASES at Sheble in the super cub?

I did the same thing in 1998. Lots of fun.

Wow! Cool panoramics. What kind of camera is that? Looks like it might have a rotating slot over the lens? H

                        John,
You mentioned you got your IFR ticket in Bend.....who'd you get it from?

Bend's a nice town isn't it? I hope you ate at the Pine Street Tavern whilst you were there.

The panos where made with a digital camera and some free software: http://hugin.sourceforge.net/

Got my IFR with ProfessionalAir in Bend. KBDN has really grown, and growing more. Been visiting that area regularly for about 20 years.

                          Cheers

Well I have flown from Wisconsin to Wendover NV, and from Ogden UT to Alaksa last summer. I recommend flying along I-80....you would be able to camp at most of the airports along the way. expect 3-4 days depending on how many fuel stops. Ogden UT has a nice airport, I have stayed at both Mitchel and Madison SD, Avoid stopping in Kansas, the fuel prices were almost a dollar higher than WY or UT. Good luck on your trip and keep us posted. Tim
