There is a guy in Jersey Shore, PA who has the STC available, but I suspect he might not be able to read whatever language you are writing. Maybe have someone send him a letter on your behalf in English...

remember once you take it out of the light sport aircraft catagory (LSA) it can NEVER go back! 1340 # max i believe. . Buy a f19or a Maule if you want the big gross and leave the plane for the non medical guys to fly. I know i almost did what you are thinking of doing and thank the big guy i didn't to this day . I did the mods but never did the paper work on the weight increase. But who am i as an old fart to advise? " Its your party and cry if you want too" and im pretty sure we will be crying later when your medical is gone along with all the lightweight T's .
Bottom line is that its A GREAT if not the best LSA and it should stay that way and we will all thank you later and it should and will be worth more as a LSA as time moves on.

                Stormman,

Thanks for the post. I heartily agree. For both older pilots like me and the new sport pilots, there are few affordable airplanes out there, and the Taylorcraft is the best.

I note that LSA Aeronca's, Cubs, Ercoupes, Luscombs and T-Crafts already are selling for more than equivilant ships with higher gross weight. Too many have already been converted to models with the C-90, electrical systems, etc....

It costs half as much to become a light sport pilot than a private pilot, and more flight schools are offering the option. Hopefully, more young pilots will be joining the ranks and wanting affordable airplanes.

For all, I hope restorers don't upgrade beyond the LSA parameters. If you want more gross weight or more power, please sell and trade up.

                Thanks,
                Dan Brown
