  • I'm Stalled with My Airtexish Interior

Howdy, Folks, from Western North Carolina. I'm busy with an interior I had sewn up using an old Airtex for a pattern, which the seamstress (or seamer) promptly discarded. It had served well in my BC12-D, even better than the copy he made --- because I'm having the dickens getting it in.

I have three stiff wire arcs which hold it in place but more than three holes for the wire ends just above the doors, and somehow the headliner seems saggy. Any advice here? Plus I can't remember how it joins the baggage compartment or ties or glues in around the D-windows or above the doors. Do you suppose this is an excuse to fly to Virginny and look up Hank Jarrett or to Eastern North Carolina and look up Eric?

How about borrowing an old Airtex from somebody or maybe there are some pics or instructions I can look at. This thing has frustrated me, and I'm usually purty patient.

Anyway, it's good to be back and to see the blissful old crowd again and to contemplate another trip to the Taylorcraft Mecca in Alliance again and to see our Big Friend. I see I registered back in November, but where I put the name and password beats me.

    Yours truly, Larry Smith

    Larry,

There should be 5 wires. At least there were on mine before I put a skylight in. The forward-most and aft-most are approx the same, and the three centre ones are the same.

Unfortunately, I sold the wires to Luc in Canada. My headliner was so cr@ppy that I discarded it, there were 5 "loops" in it to take the wires.

Use the excuse to go fly to have a look at someone else's!

You are welcome to come see me any time (contact off line to confirm I will be there [email protected] ). The 41 is in the hangar at PVG with the wings off and the headliner still in but I plan to take it out to make a new one. We can pull it out and photograph the whole process at the same time. The 45 is in the barn with the headliner out but the fuselage is ready for a new one. I would like to make two replacements and test fitting the old 41 into the 45 fuse would confirm the new one will fit. Plenty of looking available and I would welcome the second set of eyes, especially since you have already had some trouble and will see pitfalls I would probably miss.
