  • taylorcraft b series elevator cable hook up

I need to know what the hook up looks like for the elevator horn . I am trying to put the cables on at the elevator, they must have a link or a arm before the clevis of the turn buckle hooks up. the cables could be to short, but I think I am missing something. Any Help?

Yes, Jack, there is a link top & bottom. They go between the turnbuckle & the horns. I don't have any dimensional details to hand, but it is made up of a flat steel piece (that sits inside the turnbuckle one end) with "washers" welded to increase to the gap between the horns the other end.

It's about 2" long between the hole centres.

Not much, I'm afraid...but hope it helps.

If it is a pre war it is the same except there are no washers welded to the links. It's just flat with two holes.

Re: taylorcraft b series elevator cable hook up

Hi, have been searching through the forum for help on connecting up the elevators having this weekend reinstalled the tailplane. As with many other jobs I'm finding it hard to work out the solution from the collection of documentation, parts and fittings I have.

This thread has pictures showing the links, which I have, but I am unsure about a couple of points:

The link appears to be drilled 3/16" and the elevators 1/4".
Also the gap between the elevator horns is wider than the link by about 1/4".

Am confused about how the hookup should work an what fittings are used. Can anyone clarify it for me?

            regards

            Colin

Colin, it sounds like you might have the aileron links instead of the elevator links. Tom

Tom, am pretty sure they were the elevator links as they are still attached to the cables following its disassembly.

                regards
