Re: News from the Factory III
Fortunately, most people I knowof learn about Tcrafts by other owners or general word of mouth. They're not high-profile aircraft, though it seems a great number of people have flown one. I was answering questions of a young man as to cost of a Tcraft, etc. just the other day as I refueled. We seem to be the best ambassadors of Taylorcraft out in the real world.

Re: News from the Factory III
It may be difficult to sell a plane to us but think about those folks, like the gentleman who just asked about the new Taylorcrafts and how they fly. How difficult would it be to sell to someone not on this site? I feel there are many folks out there who don't know about this site, hence are not informed about the issues with the new Taylorcraft.

Re: News from the Factory III
There was a post that was supposed to be from the factory(Harry) accusing Forrest and some others of conspiring to create an AD on the struts and getting a PMA to manufacture new ones so they could sell, what was the number? something like 3 million dollars in new struts. Total BS-!! not going to happen.
On the other hand lets say the FAA is going to grant Harry permission to manufacture parts and aircraft. NO BODY trusts the guy, that will make selling product kinda hard don't you think!

Re: News from the Factory III
If that is a possibility, it seems that someone in authority... ahem... should contact the FAA with a pre-emptive strike, warning the FAA that someone MAY potentially try to abuse the system for their own financial gain.Originally posted by jgerard View Post"Discussions hinted at a new development concerning a favorable action by the FAA to Ingram and his company."
Does this mean he thinks he is going to get an AD on the wing struts and ground all flying Tcrafts until they buy new ones from him.
If it were me, I'd be compiling the data NOW that shows Taylorcrafts do not suffer wing strut problems historically, and that there is no appreciable record of Taylorcrafts falling out of the sky because of the wing struts. There is nothing as good as having documented facts and data to cut through BS and confusion!
I'm very very sure that a pre-emptive strike putting the feds on notice that something fishy may be going on would be a LOT better than waiting for a false alarm to be brought to the FAA and THEN having all of us shouting "wait... no... there is no problem with our struts!" in defense.

Re: News from the Factory III
The sign off can only be good if the factory had an authoization to undertake production (APIS, or production certificate, and if the work done was in accordance with the limitations on that certificate. In that instance the "manufacturer" has established personnel qualified to return the aircraft to service in his manuals, and those persons can sign the 337 document.
I do not know, but suspect that no such production approval holder (PAH) authorities were ever in place and FAA approved, so the 337 may be worthless, however, absent proof that it was an intentional fraud rather than a misunderstanding, it is unlikely any prosecution would be forthcoming.

Re: News from the Factory III
One more thing, try and see if a yearly condition inspection or an annual can help to certify your aircraft back to airworthiness in this situation.Originally posted by heliplane2 View PostTo answer your question, no, Harry never built the F22, it's just a picture he is using to lure more innocent people to take their money and run! If anyone is reading this situation, please dont' believe anything Harry is trying to do! According to the FAA regs, if he doesn't have a certificate to manufacture airplanes, or fix them, then he cannot sign anything back to airworthiness! Only an IA can sign the aircraft back to airworthiness after the aircraft has been restored or a DER after the aircraft was built new! I suggest notifying the FAA till you get a response. So his signature is not valid at all. Also, if you wish, find yourself a good IA that can help you in this matter.

If you look up the N number on that posted "Sport Plane" you will find that it is a 180hp F22C residing in Round Top TX.
